Playing devil’s advocate here, could you argue that wanting to be more than you are is also what accelerates growth, as it can lead people to taking action?

Taking action always accelerates growth. But if we do so from a perceived position of 'lack' then we may be disappointed when the growth is not what we wished for or expected.

But if we take action without a preconceived expectation then the outcome will never be disappointing.

Well said. I have reflected a lot on this. My good friend and I have this motto “high ambition, low expectations” - it acknowledges our drive but relinquishes our expectation
