I have to be in the right headspace to write anything. When I have been I can write for ten hours straight without a break.

But it happens so infrequently these days.

I totally agree with you about consistency but I think I would need a different day job for that to happen.

But maybe I am about to enter a new era. I have a space now which is truly my own.

My project right now is to make it my spiritual and creative haven.

I will get there soon, and then the sky is the limit.

That’s incredible stamina to be able to write for 10 hours straight. I’m pondering whether I’ve ever done anything for 10 hours straight, well on the same activity (obviously making films Bruno and I would have 17 hour days but our attention would hop between different micro tasks) that is a wonderful gift that you have to be able to harness that level of deep focus - and for your creativity. I’m so curious about what held your attention for 10 hours and what that experience was like for you.

I met with a friend yesterday and we both realised that we’ve been going through a ‘life audit’ recently. Taking stock of what we have, letting go of what doesn’t (physically, mentally, spirituality) and are both feeling like we too are entering a new era; one that we are consciously creating (without fear in the driving seat) and designing with our values and interests at the heart of our decision making. It sounds like you are not only beginning a new chapter but a new book! I am excited for you to discover and cultivate your creative haven that will enable you to develop your biggest and most important project of all - you! As Christy Dena shared on my podcast (ep 7), when you develop the artist, you develop all of their projects in the process.

Well I might have exaggerated when I said ten hours but it was definitely a whole day.

I was writing my first novel during covid and I was feeling kind of burned out by work. I would sometimes go for walks in the morning and have sudden bursts of inspiration.

I still get those bursts now where I have to write it down almost immediately or it goes out of my head.

There is a piece of mine on here called Ananda. I wrote that in one take almost.

The only pauses were to check my quotes.
