I enjoyed your workshop at Cambridge last week, and this piece has just opened my eyes as to what an actor experiences when reading lines and preparing them. Thank you for sharing what goes on behind the scenes. I reckon this will help me write better lines for the upcoming assignment too.
Raksha, it was lovely to meet you at Cambridge! I'm so pleased to hear the character workshop was useful for you. If you have any further reflections from last week or around acting in general, you're always welcome to share - I'm endlessly interested in all aspects of the acting process. Also, if any questions relating to acting arise, drop them here and let's discuss!
It's a very well-articulated summary of the learnings of the first couple of days of rehearsals, Louise. I was excited we were able to block the whole monologue at the end of Day 2, which gave me a lot of clarity as well in terms of what the next steps of the rehearsal should be. It was also an invaluable experience for me to have our writer Joanna in the room, hearing the words and discussing them with us whenever needed.
Yes, such a brill experience having Joanna in the room with us. It's amazing how the rehearsal process has unfolded for us -- and that we had enough trust in ourselves and our process to led that happen (and not try to control for the sake of it). And this is just the beginning!
